May in New York City is just glorious!

The flowering trees are in bloom, the sky is blue again and it's such a relief not to worry about hats and gloves when I walk the girls to school. Some days it feels like summer, and the girls are thrilled to be in new short sleeved tees or dresses. On the cooler days, layering a sweatshirt under your spring coat is a great option.

Layering clothes is not only practical, but also continues to be a hot fashion trend. Many of our cute summer tops can be worn over a favorite winter shirt to create a new outfit that keeps your kids warm enough to go out and play.

Just in case you're depending on me to remind you, Mother's Day is May 11th. Chances are someone will snap a photo of your kids with you and maybe even a grandparent. We have lots of great new outfits that will make those photo ops into the pictures you'll cherish looking back on.

Tunics are hotter than ever!! Wear a tunic with leggings for a hip, comfortable and weather appropriate outfit.

My girls, Gabriella and Sydney, will both fight over who can wear this lovely Grey dress with adjustable straps by Pura Vida nyc. The photograph doesn't do justice to the glittery fabric that is uber feminine-and, in a word, twirlable. The footless leggings are super soft and they are trimmed in lace.

I just love the bold print of this Catimini tunic. Add the black leggings with orange trim and the matching cell phone case/mini purse to complete the look.

Another hip way to layer is to roll up the sleeves of a button down shirt and put it over a new tee. This outfit by IKKS creates a now look, is lighter and less bulky than a sweater or jacket but will keep your son warm enough on a chilly spring day.
